| Low Profile Circular Self Leveling Mill LP-CSLM
1.0 Tecnical Information The LP-CSLM is specifically designed for machining various horizontal, circular surfaces from 1.7 to 4.5 meters diameter (5 to16ft). The compact size of this machine, combined with its ability to machine up to 4.5m, has made it popular for isolated jobs of relatively large diameters. The LP-CSLM consists of a rigid box supported on wheels travelling upon the surface to be machined. This box is extended to the centre with structural beams connected to a central pivoting system (CPS). An adjustable hydraulic driven milling cutter is mounted in the box and machines the circular surface, and any related surfaces as the assembly rotates around the central pivot. A precision datum ring, mounted around the central pivot point, is used as the independent reference. This datum ring reference is mechanically adjusted parallel to the desired plane to be machined. Electronic probes attached to the beams sense the position of the beam height relative to the reference. The control circuit automatically and continuously adjusts the travel wheel height maintaining the dimension between the beams and the reference as the wheels travel through the peaks and valleys upon the surface being machined. The normal error between the datum ring and the structural beams is 0.001" (0.02 mm). The error at the surface being machined is proportional to that of the datum ring diameter. Machining up to 18 ft diameter would be expected to achieve an overall flatness tolerance of 0.003" (0.02mm). Thermal distortion and mechanical deflection of the component being machined can increase the error. The LP-CSLM can produce a variety of required machine surface finishes, which include milling, turning, and grinding. The LP-CSLM is capable machining various structures horizontally, vertically and inverted. 2.0 Advantages Extremely improved accuracy over conventional portable machining. The milling machine can operate in a limited height space. Only 12 inches (305mm) required between surfaces. The standard LP-CSLM package, as shipped, has the ability to machine a large range of diameters and is easily adaptable in the field to accommodate unexpected situations. Inverted and vertical surfaces, remote from the initial surface on which the wheels travel can also be machined to very close tolerances. Material removal rates are appreciably more efficient when compared to single point tool machining. The LP-CSLM incorporates an independent pivoting system for gathering survey data separate to the CPS. The Client can witness the survey process if requested. 3.0 Capacity and Shipping |
